I found one of my old notebooks during a recent studio cleanup. When I opened it up, I discovered the words “Create More, Make Less” written inside. The notebook is from 2018 and while I don’t remember writing that phrase, I’m very grateful that I did. My work has evolved a lot since then and it’s energizing to think about what I’ll be able to create using this simple phrase as my guide...

While we use a lot of forming methods to make our work here in the studio, making work on the potters' wheel is really at the heart of what we do... even for our production work. Throwing on the wheel is probably the image you have in mind most when you think of pottery.

How We Make It: The Gramercy Plate
Did you know? Our Gramercy Collection is made using a jiggering process. A slab of clay is put into a mold (that we make in-house). That mold is centered on a pottery wheel. The profile of the plate is attached to a mechanical arm that is then brought down to compress the clay into the mold.
