Vases– This small collection of vases is beautiful in its simplicity. I felt that the clean and strong vase forms were asking to be finished quietly. It’s been a long time since I’ve mixed up a bucket of my matte white glaze and I’m so glad I did. This glaze is an incredible luscious and tactile surface that really highlights the strength of the curves of these beautiful vases.
Planters– For years I have brought seconds home for Evangelina to use as planters. It’s usually a bowl that didn’t turn out right, a big piece that has cracked in the kiln, or an extra porcelain shade from a lighting project. I have always meant to make actual planters. These planters finally came to life in the studio this year and I’m in love with them. The forms are sleek and they have an integrated base to catch soil and extra water. The surface is unglazed and sanded smooth after the firing. Best of all, Evangelina has filled each planter with succulents so each one is ready head home and find the perfect spot to grow.
